Efficient Design: Nortel Parking Structure with Architectural Precast Panels

The Rhoda Hass Goldman Plaza at UC Berkeley’s Basketball Arena in Berkeley, CA, showcases the effective use of structural precast risers for stadium seating. Designed by AECOM and constructed by Cahill Contractors, this project emphasizes the durability and practicality of precast concrete in high-traffic sports venues. 

Structural precast risers were selected for their ability to provide strong, long-lasting seating solutions that can endure heavy use over time. Manufactured off-site in a controlled environment, these risers met stringent quality standards and precise specifications, ensuring consistent performance and durability. This off-site production also accelerated the construction timeline and minimized on-site labor and waste.

The robust nature of the structural precast risers enhanced the overall spectator experience by offering reliable and comfortable seating. The low maintenance requirements of precast concrete further contributed to the project’s cost-effectiveness and sustainability. Additionally, the flexibility of precast concrete allowed for custom design elements, aligning the seating with the architectural vision of the arena.
